Title: Switch: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
Platform: Switch
Genre: RPG
Language: Japanese, English
Company: Gamefreak
Summary: Just when I thought it couldn’t get worse than Sword/Shield…
The bugs are hilarious. The lag is not fun. Speedrun oldies are all back. I still regret bothering with Sword/Shield and I’m mostly done with the mainline Pokemon games at this point, so I only backseat watched hubby play–aka suffer through the bugs and lag. Spoilers under the cut, but tldr spare yourself the waste of time and don’t care about spoilers for Pokemon at this point.

Title: Switch: Pokémon Legends: Arceus
Platform: Switch
Genre: RPG
Language: Japanese, English
Company: Gamefreak
Summary: Generally agree with most of the gaming veteran crowd who aren’t overrun with their Pokemon biases. 9/10 for Pokemon standards, only 6/10 by game standards. Basically, if you appreciate anything about Pokemon, I guess it’s worth playing. If not, then abbbsolutely skip lol. I WILL apply the full game standard to my rating here, unlike how I feel a lot of the “bigger” gaming critics out there put out.

Title: Pokemon Masters EX
Platform: Android
Genre: RTS
Language: Japanese/English
Company: DeNA
Summary: Oops, another game I’ve been playing since launch (*cough* Singapore beta). I’ll be honest on how ironic it is… I intended to drop this as soon as it got uglier than it was from its debut, but now I’m actually playing it way more than Pokemon GO. x_x This is easily thanks in part to actually being able to do all the end-game content in a reasonable amount of time with my budget teams.
The occasional demand to go through the horrendous gacha system does happen. BUT… there are SPARKS and one just needs to plan appropriately to spark in every important situation, and to completely SKIP banners when needed. Main pool additions are easy skips (except for early game when I succumbed to a few personal favs, but there weren’t other banner types back then anyway… and May because the water setups are OP, even off-type), and some Pokefairs are full skip as well.
With 2nd Anniversary, knowing that they’re willing to do a Pokefair multi with a select is good knowledge as well. (Paid only though) If budgeted correctly, this can be done for a fair $10 through buying the .99 pack for 300 gems when they come up. Does make me wonder if they’ll do a Pokefair AND Masterfair select in the 3rd anni… oh my.
But I’ve gotten all the Masterfair units thus far. We’ll see how long this keeps up haha.

Summary: I’m as disappointed as the next collector that the dex isn’t full but I still bought Sword (at a HUGE discount, I would not buy at full price) and I still intend to play it… speedrun style, and then go straight back to Fire Emblem Three Houses afterwards. I can’t believe they won’t even let you catch Pokemon that are above level of your gym badge limit.
So the run is done… 17 hrs and I’ve beaten Leon at the post-game Battle Tower.
Overall, I’m very disenchanted by the whole franchise from this gen, seeing as they’ve ditched Mega Evolutions for this dynamax junk. They probably thought Mega Evos were too broken for the meta, but they needed something to replace it, so they put in this more mindless version instead. ???
Not going to buy the DLC as it’s not worth the $30 price. I even got Sword at a discounted $30 price and don’t feel like it’s worth it. It’s even more insulting that Sword and Shield have separate DLC versions too. Don’t see enough people complaining about Pokemon DLC compared to when Fire Emblem Fates Conquest/Birthright had a single combined DLC price for Revelations. And people complain about not getting their worth in 3H’s DLC too, but I’m guessing almost none of those complainers bothered doing a new game run with Ashen Wolves in there, and that’s their loss.

Company: The Pokemon Company
Summary: Apr 12, 2016 – Oct 31, 2019. Guess it had a decent 3.5 year run even though I didn’t even log into the game for its last year and half. I kind of wanted to screenshot my collection before the shutdown but didn’t even bother in the end.

Title: Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon ポケモン超不思議のダンジョン
Platform: 3DS
Genre: Dungeon Crawler
Language: Japanese
Company: Spike Chunsoft
Summary: Haven’t played the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon (PMD) series since the GBA one and parts of its sequel. Let’s see how far I get with this!
Enjoying pokemon super mystery dungeon a bit more than I thought I would so far, I know ppl on gamefaqs were lamenting that “catching them all” got too easy for their taste, but it’s fine for me. Spare me the mindless grinding & give more reward for time!
