Title: Tales of Xillia 2
Console: PS3
Genre: Action RPG, Fantasy
Language: Japanese
Company: Namco
Summary: Direct sequel of Tales of Xillia.

The original ToX was so easy to platinum that I started going back to Graces F and Vesperia to attempt to platinum those too, but those titles are going to require me extra gameplay/s. They will take me longer than I first anticipated.

Just got my ToX2 in the mail (11/13) and I ended up starting it that night! I got to the end of chapter 3 in just a couple hours… I’m assuming the rest of the game isn’t going to that fast. I do worry that this whole “choice” system is a soddy excuse to make the game seem longer when you replay it instead of actually providing more content, but I could be utterly wrong and get a pleasant surprise. Best to lower my expectations and then get something better out of it :P

Cleared the game with both normal and true ending, still need to get the bad ending in a second playthrough (I can’t bring myself to get a bad ending first time through and I forgot to keep a seperate save for it– Got that bad ending… Also, I found out recently that the bad ending is required for 200 grade points, which I find lame). In the end, I would pretty much say this is a gameplay improvement compared to the first game (which is honestly not hard to do). Mostly because of 3 additional playable characters, which provides for a much wider spectrum of link artes–and possibly more once I get through more of the post-game material. Story-wise, I generally preferred the first game for personal reasons, however.

Title: Danball Senki W (ダンボール戦機W)
Console: PSP
Genre: Action RPG
Language: Japanese
Company: Level-5 (with development by Tri-Ace)
Summary: Cleared the Vita version, screenshots up! Also cleared the Ranking Battle on Vita. Details in the review.
Cleared the game on the PSP before I started the Vita version (in less than 30 hours)! Lots of screenshots and stuff up. My Vita version finally arrived on November 6 (and congrats Obama!! What a memorable day).

Grinding on this game post-story is a whole ton easier than Boost, which is GREAT. I finally can actually get characters and parts to level 200 without playing hundreds of ridiculous hours.

Just to clear things up early on, and I cannot stress this enough:
PLAY DANBALL SENKI BOOST (or Baku Boost) BEFORE PLAYING THIS GAME. Even if you’ve watched the anime, you should still play the original game first. The original game experience is unique in itself. I dare say the experience of the original game is just better overall at this point, even if W has lots of great new features to it.

Review for Danball Senki/Boost is here

Title: Mobile Suit Gundam AGE: Cosmic Drive 機動戦士ガンダムAGE コズミックドライブ
Platform: PSP
Genre: Action RPG
Language: Japanese
Company: Bandai Namco / LEVEL-5
Summary: I’m comparing this game to Danball Senki like a sore thumb because it just has to be done.

Let me say this upfront: Danball Senki/Boost > this game
This game has a few interface improvements, but for a better experience in all aspects in general, go with Danball Senki.
In all seriousness, just from the sales, Gundam Age hardly sold 36k its first week, compared with Danball Senki Baku Boost which did almost 56k, and that’s just a port (not to mention there were 2 releases of the same game on the PSP which had pretty far more amazing sales for a pilot title). Of course, sales can only say so much. Play and compare both games yourself if you think I’m being overly biased.

Ignore the 2010 date, I saw that afterwards and then fixed it on my PSP. XD

But yeah, beat it in less than 13 hours. Someone doing a crazy rush play and skipping all the dialogue/cutscenes should easily be able to do it in less than 10, maybe 5 hours ._.

Like I mentioned earlier, it’s got a few mechanical improvements I’d like to see in the upcoming Danball Senki W game as well (direction pad + L + R also allowed for text scrolling [this was implemented], instant map moving with the Select button, can skip all dialogue screens and not just pre-rendered cutscenes, customizing reserved players without having to change teams), but otherwise it’s just WAY TOO SIMILAR. 8|

From my understanding, the only difference between this and Universe Accel is that Universe Accel has a lot of the older “classic” Gundam series as exclusives, while Cosmic Drive has the more ikemen ones (Wing, SEED, 00). Someone feel free to tell me if there’s more to it. Because otherwise I’m not touching Universe Accel, this game hasn’t interested me enough to do more than one playthrough. XD

Title: Digimon Digital Monsters Re:Digitize
Platform: PSP
Genre: Monster raising, RPG
Language: Japanese
Company: Bandai Namco
Summary: This title is more pet care than RPG, as I feared.
They pretty much tried to mesh in a bunch of different game elements that WOULD’VE worked just fine, until they added the letdown of Digimon World 1 elements.

Please, I don’t want to press the feed button 20 times in an hour of play, and backtrack everywhere just so the Digimon can take a dump.. -_-;

Miiight get back to this… after Time Travelers. But really not likely. After hearing from other people’s experience, I’m not going to bother.
Yes you can get portapotties, but that doesn’t fix the item usage hassle, and the items are using up all my money. Do not want.

I would’ve enjoyed an enhanced port of the Savers PS2 game a million times more. That game had a much better bone to work with.

Title: Pokemon Black/White 2 ポケットモンスターブラック2 ポケットモンスターホワイト2
Platform: NDS
Genre: RPG
Language: Japanese
Company: Nintendo
Summary: Lol it’s been over a year since I’ve played a new NDS game. I was hoping for something worthwhile beyond Black/White 2, but once again… disappoint =_= more later~

I’m actually at the big pokemon-on-the-game-cover boss and I don’t feel like grinding up my level 40 pokemon to be able to capture it. So fucking bored of the game. XD;

Title: Final Fantasy XIII-2 (Final Fantasy 13-2)
Console: PS3
Genre: RPG
Language: Japanese
Company: Square Enix
Summary: Lesson learned from XIII is to wait until I could get this game for dirt cheap. I waited to get the jp version brand new for $30.

But the game still comes to $50+ after getting all the DLC I’m interested in (the extra episodes plus Lightning character). Dammit Squenix this is why I can’t give you perfect scores lately no matter how fanciful your graphics and junk are.

Title: Fire Emblem Kakusei ファイアーエムブレム覚醒
Console: Nintendo 3DS
Genre: Strategy RPG
Language: Japanese
Company: Nintendo
Summary: Doing a whole ton of gaiden chapters and working through various support conversations occupied me a good 72 hours before I beat the game. VERY strong Fire Emblem game! Very well worth the $55 I spent to get the Japanese version.

It’s been too many years since I’ve had the support system enjoyment of the GBA games and player control that isn’t ridiculously limited like the Wii game~ And I skipped Gamecube completely. And the DS games were just remakes which I played and got bored of relatively quickly.

But THIS one’s kept me going. Mostly cuz I’m a girl and I want those support conversations. DEAL. /pif

I am bawwww at the lack of S level supports for same gender characters. I want my bromance and sisterhoods too, kthx. But I AM wonderfully pleased at the sheer amount of supports in this game overall. Mmmmm~

Title: Tales of the Heroes Twin Brave テイルズ オブ ザ ヒーローズ ツインブレイヴ
Console: PSP
Genre: Action, Action RPG
Language: Japanese
Company: Namco
Summary: Like the Radiant Mythology series, I don’t have the time to grind mindless hours into this title, so just gonna enjoy what I can with the help of another’s save file. :D Thank you~~

Does this really need a review? XDDD Just noting it down for reference anyway.

Title: Shining Blade シャイニング・ブレイド
Console: PSP
Genre: Turn-based RPG
Language: Japanese
Company: SEGA
Summary: Decided not to do a full review on this unless I actually finish the main story, but that’s not likely to happen with the lack of time I have these days. So just leaving it on here as a record.

I got up to chapter 4, but have lost so much interest in the lackluster story+battle system+characters that I don’t think I’ll keep going. The whole battlefield song business doesn’t really do anything to me. I wish they’d just animated this instead of made it into another half-baked game =w=;

Production IG animated Shining Hearts but it ended up being a boring less-than-mediocre harem show with no action >_>;
