Title: Hakuouki Portable 薄桜鬼 ポータブル
Console: PSP
Genre: Otome
Language: Japanese
Company: Idea Factory
Summary: I know the DS version is more recent and includes more gameplay elements, but I want the better sound quality for Yocchin. I’ve played through Heisuke/Yocchin’s route, but after that I think I’ll just watch the anime if I ever have any more “interest” in the other routes. XD; Someone who likes the seiyuu enough would definitely find it worth playing those other routes though.
Story: I played another Shinsengumi Otome game before this one (and probably won’t bother writing a review for it), but many of the story points stick close in my head because it’s all based on actual events and all. Of course, there are more fantasy elements in this rendition, but they work in well.
Characters:
Graphics: 10. Well, that’s probably one of the main reasons why this series is so successful? xD; The art is just hot. Hot hot. /drool
Sound: 7. Not much variety in the OST, but it fits the mood and you get used to the pieces in their repetition. Nothing particularly obnoxious
Gameplay: 7. Pretty standard visual novel choices.
Replay Value: Would fully depend on how many of the guys you’re interested in.
Overall: 8/10. Solid otome with a decent story progression and a good cast selection, plus super hot art. The epilogue for the route I did (Heisuke because Yocchin is my high /love ) was too short. T____________T Need more otome goodness!

As a total sidenote, I find it amusing that when I played Bakumatsu Renka Shinsengumi on the DS, I went after Heisuke too (that one voiced by Matsuno Taiki) and didn’t really remember until recently. XD;
